 | Zinobiani (37 Pictures)
Zinobiani (37 Pictures) Zinobiani is a settlement in Georgia, from the 1920's. It is one of the most densely packed areas of the Udi people. Was founded in 1922 by orthodox Udis from Vartashen, who fled from Azerbaijan due to azeri-armenian conflict. The emigration was led by a priest, known as Zinovi Silikov ( Zinob Silikashvili),and the village was named after him. In 1937, during Stalin's oppressive regime, he had this priest arrested. The village was renamed to Oktomberi. The album of Sandro Shanidze on Flickr.com: http://flickr.com/photos/21620861@N07/sets/72157603394811556. All photos from this this album belonged to him. |
